Luggage Storage in Bratislava: Complete Guide for Tourists (2026)

Bratislava has about 32 real options for leaving bags in 2026. If you're arriving from Vienna, Budapest or Prague and want a few hours hands-free, here's the practical version — no marketing fluff.

I'm Šimon, I live in Bratislava, and I've spent the last year mapping every luggage storage spot in the city. This guide covers prices, what to expect when you walk in (Slovak language, payment methods), safety, and which spot to pick depending on where you arrive and how long you stay.

The fast answer

Full details and a live map of all 32 spots are at lockandgo.sk/en/app.

Where you arrive: storage at each entry point

Bratislava Main Train Station (Hlavná stanica)

This is where you land if you took the EuroCity from Vienna, the RegioJet from Prague, or the night train from Budapest. Three storage options right here:

If you want a deep dive: main station storage guide (in Slovak, but Google Translate handles it well — or scroll for the English summary).

Stanica Nivy (bus station / OC Nivy)

If you arrived by RegioJet, FlixBus, Eurolines, or any long-distance bus from Vienna, Budapest or further, you're at the new Nivy terminal. Three options inside the complex:

M.R. Štefánik Airport (BTS)

Bratislava Airport is small and roughly 9 km from the city center. There's a basic left-luggage service inside the terminal, but most travelers transit through Vienna Airport (VIE) instead. From BTS you take the 61 bus to the main train station (about 25 minutes), then use any of the options above. If you fly into Vienna and travel onward to Bratislava by RegioJet, you arrive at Stanica Nivy or the main train station — same options.

Petržalka Train Station (ŽST Petržalka)

The Vienna REX trains terminate at ŽST Bratislava-Petržalka (south of the Danube). Options:

Best storage by traveler type

Day-trippers from Vienna

You arrive at Hlavná stanica or ŽST Petržalka in the morning, leave in the evening. Best pick: ZSSK manned storage if you have a single bag under 15 kg (€2 total) or Bounce if you want online booking and predictable hours (€5.90). Don't use the Stanica Nivy boxes unless you're starting/ending at the bus station — they're farther from the historic center.

Backpackers between trains

If you have euros in coins, ZSSK lockers at the station are unbeatable for short stays. If you only have a card, head 10 minutes on foot to Obchodná 9 (€2/2h, card with Apple/Google Pay accepted) or book a Bounce spot online before arrival.

Families with kids and big luggage

Radical Storage. €5 per bag per day, €3,000 insurance, manned drop-off. You don't have to wrestle a 28-inch suitcase into a self-service locker. Locations in Ružinov (Miletička, Dulovo nám.) and near Nivy.

Business travelers

You probably have a laptop, a suit bag, and don't want to lose 20 minutes finding coins. Book Bounce online before landing. Confirmation arrives with a QR code; drop, scan, go. Or use the 24h luggage room at Safestay Bratislava or Hotel Loft (non-guest fee, confirm by phone).

Night-train and late-bus travelers

Anything happening between 22:00 and 06:00 needs a 24/7 spot. Options: ZSSK lockers (coins), Stanica Nivy boxes (card), Obchodná 9 (card), Luggage Lockers under SNP Bridge (CCTV, WhatsApp support +421 905 599 053), LugLockers (online), or the Bounce 24/7 spot near the main station.

What to expect on the ground

Language

Most station and locker staff speak basic English. Tourist-facing Bounce partners (Old Town cafés, shops near Michael's Gate) speak it fluently. Outside the center, expect Slovak first, German occasionally. Pointing at signs works fine. Slovak words to know: úschovňa = storage, skrinka = locker, batožina = luggage.

Payment

This trips up the most people. Quick rules:

Safety

Bratislava is a safe city by European standards. None of the 32 spots I've mapped have repeat theft complaints in their reviews. Bounce and Radical Storage have manned counters and formal claim processes. Self-service lockers at major stations have CCTV. For valuables (laptop, camera) I'd still pick a manned spot with insurance — Radical Storage covers up to €3,000, Bounce has its own guarantee, LuggageHero covers €500. ZSSK lockers and most basic self-service boxes are uninsured.

Size limits

Manned storage (Bounce, Radical, ZSSK manual) accepts anything — large suitcase, backpack, ski bag, even bicycles by arrangement. Self-service has physical limits:

Quick tip: if you're stopping in Bratislava as part of a longer trip and have a big suitcase, don't gamble on lockers. Book a Bounce or Radical Storage spot before you arrive. €5–6 for 24 hours of hassle-free storage is worth not dragging luggage up to Bratislava Castle.

FAQ

Is there 24/7 luggage storage in Bratislava?

Yes. Stanica Nivy boxes, ZSSK lockers at Hlavná stanica and ŽST Petržalka, Obchodná 9, Luggage Lockers under SNP Bridge, LugLockers at three station locations, and one Bounce 24/7 partner near the main station. Hotels Safestay and Hotel Loft have 24h reception with non-guest luggage rooms.

How much does luggage storage at Bratislava Main Station cost?

From €2/day (ZSSK manned or coin-operated lockers) up to €5.90/day (Bounce partners near the station). For a regular tourist with one carry-on, €2–6 is the range.

Can I book luggage storage in advance?

Yes for Bounce, Radical Storage, LuggageHero, and LugLockers. No for ZSSK, Obchodná 9, or Stanica Nivy — those are walk-in only.

Is it safe to leave luggage in Bratislava?

Yes. The city is safe and storage operators here function the same as in Prague or Vienna. For valuable items, pick a manned operator with explicit insurance (Radical Storage €3,000, Bounce Guarantee, LuggageHero €500). For regular clothes and books, any locker is fine.

What about Bratislava Airport luggage storage?

The airport has a basic left-luggage service in the terminal, but it's not heavily used because the airport is small. Most travelers either use the airport service briefly or take the 61 bus into the city and use options at the main station or Nivy.
