Bratislava's main train station (Hlavná stanica) is the busiest place in the city for luggage storage. Travelers from Vienna, Budapest, Prague and Košice change here daily, and most want their hands free. We've checked every counter, locker and Bounce partner within 500 m — here's how it stacks up.

Address and orientation

Námestie Franza Liszta 11, 811 04 Bratislava. The station is about 1.2 km north of the historic center. From the exit you can walk down Štefánikova street to the center (15 min) or take trolleybus 201, 207 or 208 to Hodžovo námestie (5 min). The main entrance is at the front, parking to the left, the bus terminal to the right.

1. ZSSK manned storage (cheapest)

The classic left-luggage counter inside the station building. Hand over your bag, get a ticket, return it on collection. Value for money is unbeatable here — nothing else in the city comes near €2 for 24 hours.

The catch: opening hours vary by day and season, and staff take breaks. Arrive before 6:30 and you'll wait for it to open; after 20:00 it's closed and you'll need the self-service lockers. No online booking.

2. ZSSK self-service lockers (24/7, coins only)

Classic key lockers. Drop coins, take the key, open and return it on collection. No staff, no registration.

The catch: no coins, no locker. They don't take cards and there's no code display. If you don't have change, break a note at the station kiosk or ticket desk. After 72 hours the locker is emptied by ZSSK staff (with a fee).

3. LugLockers · Hlavná stanica (24/7 with online booking)

A new network that opened lockers inside the station building in 2026. The advantage over the ZSSK lockers is card payment and online booking. Check availability on their site before arriving — the booking system sometimes shows "€0 / not bookable", which means that day has no active slots yet.

4. Bounce partners within 500 m (most convenient)

Bounce has several cafés and shops near the station acting as storage points. Best fit for travelers who want to hand a bag to a person, have it behind a counter, and move on.

The best-rated Bounce spot by the station and one of the few 24/7 partners in the city. Book online, arrive with a QR code, done.

Within 500–800 m there are more Bounce partners toward Špitálska (the medical faculty), Obchodná and Námestie SNP. If you're heading into the center and want to drop your bag on the way, open the map and pick the closest one.

Walking directions from the station exit

• ZSSK storage and lockers — you don't go anywhere, they're inside the station building. Lockers by platform 1, manned storage next to it.
• LugLockers — also inside the station building; look for the signage, or ask at the ZSSK info desk.
• Bounce "Near Bratislava Station" — a 5-minute walk from the main building. You get the exact address only after booking — that's Bounce's standard so spots aren't overrun by walk-ins.

What NOT to do

• Don't expect the ZSSK lockers to take cards. Coins only. People queue at the ATM in the hall, then still have to find change at the kiosk.
• Don't leave bags unattended at the entrance. A station isn't the place to risk it — keep your bag with you or in a locker.
